On Wednesday, July 22, 2009, the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce was awarded the Small Business Initiative of the Year Award from the Washington DC Economic Partnership and the Deputy Mayor of Planning and Economic Development, at WDCEP's second-annual BusinessPremier Small Business Awards Ceremony.

Elizabeth Scott and Christine Brooks-Cropper accept the award from WDCEP.

"We are truly honored to have received the WDCEP award," says Elizabeth Scott, chair of the GWFCC Executive Board.  "It speaks to the dedication of the president, Christine Brooks-Cropper, and the vision she has instilled in those working with her to not only make D.C. a fashion capital, but also to encourage those with goals and dreams to see their ideas come to fruition and make a difference in the city."

The breakfast event was held at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel and honored three outstanding businesses for their accomplishments in the following categories:

  • Small Business of the Year: PRM Consulting
  • 100-Year-Old D.C. Business of the Year: W.T. Weaver & Sons
